The Social Work program offers a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) degree program fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), the national accrediting agency.

The program's mission is to prepare students to work as professionals in entry-level social work generalist practice.

Graduates will become social workers dedicated to:

• Enhancing the quality of people's lives.
• Empowering individuals, families, groups, and communities.
• Advancing human rights and social and economic justice.

Idaho State University's Bachelor of Arts in Social Work Program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education’s Board of Accreditation.

Accreditation of the Master of Social Work Program by the Council on Social Work Education’s Board of Accreditation indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of program quality evaluated through a peer review process.  An accredited program has sufficient resources to meet its mission and goals and the Board of Accreditation has verified that it demonstrates compliance with all sections of the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards. 

Accreditation applies to all program sites and program delivery methods of an accredited program. Accreditation provides reasonable assurance about the quality of the program and the competence of students graduating from the program.

Statement of Licensure

Upon graduating from the Bachelor of Arts in Social Work Program and/or the Master of Social Work Program, students are eligible to apply for licensure as a social worker in the State of Idaho. Licensing regulations vary by state, and students are also eligible to apply for licensure in any additional state that maintains licensing protocols for BaSW/BSW and/or MSW level practitioners. If you plan to reside and work outside of the state of Idaho, students are encouraged to do their due diligence in researching the licensing requirements of that state. It is the responsibility of the student to understand the licensing requirements relevant to their plans for practice.
