JULY CAMP IMNH
Family Ethnobotany
July 20, 2026
9 to 4
Ages 8-12
Cost: $200
Do you have a family garden? Does your family have stories about plants, or specific plants that bring up good memories? Do you know how your family interacted with plants in the past? Do you want to know what plants might have been important to your ancestors? Join us as we spend the day diving into your family's ethnobotany! Your learner will get to discover how plants have played an important role in your family's history and will get to go home with a fun craft they've started during the class. Parents/guardians will be required to answer a few simple questions to help our class facilitator build the unique family history activity for your learner (family heritage, a story or two if any already exist, how your family uses plants currently). Cost includes snacks, craft, and take home summary of what was covered in class.

Idaho Junior Paleontologist

July 20 - 24, 2026
10 am to 4 pm
Ages 7-12
Cost: $400
Is your child wild about dinosaurs, but perhaps too young for our more strenuous field camps? This week-long camp is a chance for them to explore the many aspects of paleontology here in Idaho, and come home every day with science-filled tales of new adventures! Campers will get to explore the museum gallery and collections, as well as help unearth Idaho's dinosaurs from rocks we've collected here at the museum. They will also learn how to sort microfossils and identify many types of Ice Age animal bones, remove the rock from fossils they have found, dive into 3D scanning and printing, and even go into the field for a trip to visit some dinosaur deposits in eastern Idaho. At the end of the camp, your learner will leave with new knowledge and appreciation of our shared natural history, a 3D printed replica of a fossil from Idaho that they helped restore for display, and a certificate saying they are officially a Junior Paleontologist! Lunch, snacks, and transportation from the museum to the dinosaur site on our field day are all included in this price. A minimum of 3 attendees is required, and our camp is capped at 8 participants due to space constraints, so don't get left behind!
