Audiology
The audiology program at Idaho State University offers coursework at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Students can elect to take the pre-Audiology emphasis track to the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Communication Science and Disorders as a means of preparing to enter our Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) graduate program. Our department also offers a Pre-Professional Certificate Program. This one-year leveling sequence prepares students who have successfully earned a degree in an unrelated field with the necessary foundational knowledge and skills to enter our Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program.
The entry-level degree for audiology is the doctorate. This means that in order to practice audiology, you must earn your doctorate. This could be a professional doctorate such as the Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) or the research-based Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). Currently Idaho State University offers only the Doctor of Audiology and we admit approximately 8 graduate students each year. The program duration is 4 years (11 semesters) for full-time students. In special cases, students can apply for an adjusted program-of-study as needed.
