Proposals in Progress

UCC Proposal Status Tracking

Proposal request forms submitted online are linked to this Google spreadsheet when the proposal is generated as a Google Doc.  Corresponding state proposals are also linked for easy reference.  The tracking sheet is then manually updated as proposals make their way through the review, approval, and implementation process.

Three-Year Planning, State Proposals, Letters of Notification (LONs)

Three-Year Planning and Curriculum Development Process Timeline

Current Three-Year Plan

2025 Three-Year Plan Progress Tracking

Departments should ensure in early Fall 2025 that they have requested UCC or Graduate Council catalog proposals and State Proposal forms for each of the programs, certificates and discontinuances listed for implementation in 2026-27.   All Proposals (state and catalog) are due October 20, and must be approved by the respective curriculum councils no later than Thanksgiving Break to be included in the 2026-27 catalog.

Proposals slated for 2027-28 catalog requiring approval by the full SBOE (III.G.3.a.i.) must be completed and fully approved by all ISU reviewers/approvers before the end of the Spring 2026 semester in order to make the deadlines for the August or October SBOE meetings.   Be sure the catalog proposals are submitted in the correct catalog cycle (i.e. Spring semester) so they don't end up included in the wrong catalog prematurely.

Doctoral programs require significantly longer review and approval timelines, so all proposal forms should be requested in Fall 2025 for doctoral programs slated for implementation in 2027-28.

Next Year's (2026) Three-Year Plan (template and instructions forthcoming)

2026 SBOE Three-Year Plan Update Process and Timeline - schedule and dates
    • Updated 2026-27 Three-Year Plan is due to OSBE by May 5, 2026
    • Final corrections and additions to the Plan are due to OSBE no later than June 9, 2026
    • RECENT CHANGE:  any proposed new programs, degrees, certificates, or discontinuances that are not included in the Plan require an additional Letter of Notification (LON) asking for permission to add the program, degree, certificate, or discontinuance.  This additional LON must be submitted to and approved by OSBE prior to submitting a state proposal or LON for the program, degree, or certificate.

      Reminder:

any proposed program that requires full SBOE approval (Policy III.G.3.a.i.) MUST have both the catalog and state proposal approved internally at ISU no later than the end of the Spring semester to make the SBOE proposal deadlines for the August, October, and December SBOE meetings.  (December SBOE proposal deadline is mid-September, which does not allow sufficient time for completion, review, and approvals.  No guarantees that SBOE will continue to meet in February).
