Own Your Voice Logo

This series of workshops, designed to serve as a toolkit for overall sexual health and wellbeing, was developed by Aubree Denker, a Master of Public Health Student at Idaho State University. Drawing on her own experiences, Aubree created Own Your Voice to provide clear, accessible resources on consent, communication skills, and sexual health. This toolkit is designed to foster a culture of community support and self-advocacy, where respect, safety, and empowerment are foundational to everyday life.

There are three workshops, ideally attended in order, but the information in each is stand-alone. Click on the tabs below to learn what to expect from each workshop. Then, check out the event schedule to learn how you can sign up to attend!

Workshop A: Consent and Healthy Relationships

Workshop A is the first of the three Own Your Voice sessions. It introduces the idea of consent, boundaries, and healthy relationships. The goal is to reduce the stigma around conversations on these topics and empower you to communicate your needs clearly and confidently.

At the end of Workshop A, you will be able to:

  1. Define and practice consent
  2. Recognize and differentiate healthy vs. unhealthy relationships
  3. Demonstrate confidence in identifying, setting, and expressing
    personal boundaries

Workshop B: Sexual Violence Awareness and Bystander Intervention

Workshop B builds on Workshop A by expanding on knowledge and awareness, while also incorporating bystander intervention skills. Content includes definitions of several key terms related to sexual violence, warning signs of potentially harmful behavior, and skills to
advocate for oneself and others. The goal is to reduce the stigma around conversations on these topics and empower you to communicate your needs clearly and confidently.

At the end of Workshop B, you will be able to:

  1. Define sexual violence and recognize warning signs of
    potentially harmful behaviors
  2. Define bystander intervention and understand strategies for
    intervention
  3. Demonstrate confidence in one’s ability to support peers and
    oneself in potentially harmful situations

Workshop C: Sexual Health Decisions and Resource Navigation

Workshop C is the last of the three Own Your Voice sessions. It builds on concepts from the previous two workshops. By focusing on sexual health decision-making and resource navigation, the workshop is a culmination of knowledge and skills.

At the end of Workshop C, you will be able to:

  1. Define sexual health and recognize the impact it has on the
physical and emotional wellbeing of oneself and peers
  2. Demonstrate ability to advocate for oneself when navigating the complex intersection of sexual health, consent, and relationships
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of existing resources and how to access them for oneself or peers
