 Sibling rivalries, Chekhovian angst, and a costume party gone hilariously wrong — welcome to Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. In this witty and satirical comedy by Christopher Durang, a quiet country home becomes the backdrop for family drama as two middle-aged siblings are thrown into chaos by the arrival of their flamboyant movie-star sister and her much younger boyfriend. Directed by Visiting Assistant Lecturer Sara Hymes, this production delivers laugh-out-loud moments while exploring themes of aging, identity, and absurdity with heart and humor.

The Marvelous Wonderettes

Flash back to the sock hops and girl groups of yesteryear in The Marvelous Wonderettes! Set at the 1958 Springfield High School prom, this jukebox musical follows four friends through high school dreams and adult realities, all set to the greatest hits of the ‘50s and ‘60s. Featuring songs like “Lollipop” and “Dream Lover,” this nostalgic, feel-good show is directed with heart and harmony for a fun night out for the whole family.

Enter a mysterious forest and the heart of a young hero’s journey in Emme and the Taking of the Woods, a new fantasy adventure by ISU’s own Jef Petersen, co-recipient of the 2023 KCACTF David Mark Cohen Playwriting Award. When nine-year-old Emme hears a cry from the woods behind their house, they embark on a multiverse-saving quest filled with danger, allies, and discovery. A heartfelt and imaginative tale about bravery, resilience, and what it really means to be a hero.
