Eggs and Pizza Pan a.k.a. Egg Drop

3 eggs on tubes on a pizza pan above 3 glasses of water. With a broom ready to hit the pan.

Overview:

A large force is given to the pizza pan by the broom, which accelerates it from the top of the glasses. The edge of the pan and the friction from the pan remove the cylinders keeping the eggs propped up. The inertia of the eggs prevents them from being accelerated with the pan, and so the eggs will only feel the effect of gravity. This will drop them into the glasses of water.

Materials:

3x Large cups of water

Pizza pan

3x Egg drop tubes

3x Eggs

Broom

Setup:

Put the three glasses of water in a triangle touching each other near the edge of a table. Put the pizza pan on top of the cups. There must be part of the pizza pan hanging over the side of the table. Place the tubes on top of the pizza pan. You must make sure that each tube is placed at the center of the cup below it. Place one egg on top of each of the tubes.

How to:

Place the broom next to where the pizza pan is hanging over the edge of the table. Hold the top of the broom with your hand as you step on the broom brush. Pull the broom back away from the table, and then let go of the broom.

Safety:

Do not have anyone in the direction the pizza pan will be flying. Do not eat the eggs raw.
