Physical Therapy Students Excel Nationally on Licensure Exam
September 11, 2025
Idaho State University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students continue to stand out on the National Physical Therapy Exam, a key milestone on the path to becoming a licensed physical therapist.
Over the past three years, ISU’s DPT program has achieved steadily increasing first-time pass rates, with scores exceeding national averages. Most recently, the Class of 2025 achieved a remarkable first-time pass rate of 95.7%, compared to the national average of 87.6%. Even more impressively, three students - Laurel Barnard, Elena Potter, and Abigail Warner - earned perfect scores of 800/800 on the NPTE, a rare national accomplishment.
“These outcomes reflect the culture we have intentionally built,” said Dr. Tarang Jain, program director. “Our students are immersed in an academic environment defined by mentorship, high expectations, and shared pursuit of excellence. Rigor and support go hand in hand, and the results speak for themselves.”
ISU’s DPT program attributes this success to highly engaged faculty, a student-centered approach, and a learning environment designed for real-world success. From classroom to clinic, ISU continues to prepare physical therapy graduates to lead with confidence, compassion, and competence.
