One of my Favorite Professional Experiences….

Glenna Young riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle

The countenance of hope, excitement, and anticipation for the future seen on graduates.  Overwhelming feeling of happiness when a new graduate visits with news of that first job and a whole new life ahead.   These are two of my favorite experiences.

Remember, sometimes you just have to get on that Harley and ride!  Have confidence in yourself and let the sky be the limit.

One of My Favorite Professional Experiences:

My favorite professional experiences center around the opportunities I have had to help recognize HIT students and HIT clinical professionals for their outstanding work in education, and in the Health Information Field.  It was most gratifying to see one of our students awarded a Distinguished Student Scholarship in 2017.  It has been a pleasure to see students receive recognition, on a state and national level, with scholarship awards from the Idaho Health Information Management Association and the American Health Information Management Association.  Finally, two of our treasured affiliated clinical sites have been recognized as Outstanding Community Partners by the ISU College of Technology: the Health Information Management Department at Bingham Memorial and the Health Information Management Department at Portneuf Medical Center (shown in my profile picture).  Being able to recognize such deserving people and organizations is truly my reward as an instructor.

Favorite Professional Experience

I served as a mentor one year at my clinic site for a local University for their Health Informatics and Information Management students. This particular year I had two students that did their rotation with me. I was able to show and teach them the ins and outs of what I did on a daily basis and how it was applicable to what they were learning in their courses. To this day, I still interact with them, and seeing them thrive and succeed in the health information management realm has been very rewarding.

“A Little about me…”

I was born and raised in Idaho and currently reside in Meridian. I enjoy baking, reading, photography, and crafting. I also appreciate all the outdoor activities that Idaho has to offer, such as camping and fishing. I have a passion for learning and you will often find me delving into an assortment of topics to deepen my knowledge and satisfy my curiosity.

Favorite Professional Experience

For me teaching students is very gratifying because I get to see their skills and confidence grow over time. It’s rewarding to watch things “click” for them and know I played a small part in helping them reach their goals. I enjoy sharing real-world experience, answering their questions, and watching them move forward in their careers. Seeing their progress and excitement reminds me why I love what I do.

A Little about me…

I was born and raised in Deweyville, Utah, just over the Idaho border. I’ve been married to my husband Jess for 34 years and we’ve raised three amazing adult children and three dogs who basically run the show in our house. I’m a die-hard Eminem fan (yes, a full-on Stan) and love having music of all kinds playing constantly, sometimes it’s a concert in my living room.  I like to attend concerts with my family. I would love to live by the Pacific Ocean. Though for now, I live vicariously through a live camera of the Pacific Ocean on my computer screen. Close enough, right?
