What is a Non-Classified position?

A Non-Classified position is a position that was created by Idaho State University to work at/for the University. Non-Classified positions have a minimum salary amount that is updated each fiscal year. Non-Classified positions are salaried positions, and they only report time when paid time off is used. To receive further information about Non-Classified positions, contact Denise Scott, HR Business Partner for Talent Acquisition at (208) 282-3830.

The job I want to post needs to be reclassified. What should I do?

To reclassify a current Non-Classified or Faculty position, you need to complete a Reclassification & Salary Adjustment Request: Non-Classified/Faculty for review.

The job I'm trying to hire for doesn't have a Position Control Number (PCN). How do I get a new PCN?

If you need a new position created, you must complete and submit the Hiring Pre-Authorization Form for review.

I need to hire quickly. What's the shortest amount of time I can have a job posted for recruitment?

The standard amount of time a Non-Classified or Faculty position is posted is 30 days. However, in some situations, the search committee may request a 2-week posting exception. Examples of times this would be granted would be if someone left unexpectedly, and the position needs to be refilled quickly; a previous search was failed and needs to be reposted; etc.
