Joseph Bliss is an artist and educator with over 20 years of experience teaching art across a variety of settings, from middle school classrooms to university studios. He holds an MFA in Studio Arts from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and a BFA in Painting from West Chester University. Throughout his career, Joseph has developed and implemented visual arts curricula, mentored student teachers, and spearheaded interdisciplinary initiatives, such as community murals, museum tours, and student art clubs. His background also includes unique experiences like drawing medical cadavers, which has deeply informed his teaching of anatomy and figure drawing and the inclusion of sciences into his teaching. Outside the classroom, Joseph is an avid traveler, visiting museums and art spaces around the world. He is also on a personal mission to see 101 operas and shares this journey through a dedicated blog. When he’s not teaching or making his own art, you might find Joe walking his two chihuahuas, browsing a bookstore, or playing the ukulele.
