Language Arts Teacher

Mike Herman has created the following course for the Albion Center:

• Understanding Poverty and Building Resilience in Young Learners

Mike Herman has been an 8th grade language arts teacher for 25 years. Prior to teaching in a middle school, he served for a few years as a counselor and youth advocate, working with at-risk children and adolescents. Mike holds a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from Lock Haven University, a Master's in Educational Leadership from Cabrini University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands. In addition to teaching at his school, Mike was also the advisor to the school paper for 12 years and the advisor to the student council for 15 years, but some say his biggest achievement was completing the NJ Marathon in 4 hours and 20 minutes! He tutors students for the SAT on Saturdays and in the summer. When he has free time, Mike enjoys kayaking and traveling with his wife, now that their three children are older.
