A.M. Rasmussen is a biological illustrator and science communicator with formal education and training in biology focusing on organismal fields, ecology, and evolution. Rasmussen received a Doctor of Arts in Biology where her focal research explored how illustration can facilitate science education and research. In biological illustration courses and workshops, she engages students, educators, and researchers in using illustration as a learning tool to observe, record, and communicate science and nature. Rasmussen has worked as an educator for informal and formal life-science education from university courses to museum experiences. She participates in ecological research concerning botany and herpetology. As an illustrator, she creates artwork for museum exhibits and materials for science education. She also works with researchers to communicate their research through visual representations.
