Shannon Ament was an elementary educator teaching both second and third grades for 19 years at a Title One school in Baltimore County. She has been a Community School Facilitator at the same Title One Baltimore County Community school for two years. In those two years, she has found her passion for the Community Schools strategy to help schools achieve equity in under-served, high poverty areas where race has often played a major role in the disparities of the community. With her Community Schools work, Shannon has established a monthly food bank, thrift store, and resource fair that has grown from serving 12 families to over 300 families a month. In her free time, Shannon is heavily involved with Church of the Harbor Essex and Scouts of America. For hobbies, she rescues chihuahuas and has three, is a Disney adult, and enters/wins sweepstakes often.
